Algoriddim are making the bold claim that djay Pro is a complete toolkit for performing DJs, but does this software have what it takes to make it in the cutthroat world of professional DJing?

• Djay 2 for Android is a supercool DJing app that lets you spin two tunes together on digital decks. The controls are responsive and you can scratch your turntables against the needle, or move the needle to go back and forth in the track.You can place.

While acceptable for parties and possibly bar gigs, it just won't cut the mustard on the kind of soundsystems found at big clubs.

Another nifty trick up djay Pro's sleeve is the Echonest powered recommendation feature, which suggests which tracks should be played next choosing from tracks stored on user's computers, as well as from Spotify's library. It also works very well with iTunes, with all of the relevant data associated with tracks displayed within djay Pro.

Best of all, there is no need to import the tracks from iTunes — it works seamlessly from the moment djay Pro is first opened.

When it comes to the business of mixing, DJs can choose from either the traditional two decks and a mixer layout, which djay is famous for, or a waveform view which supports up to four decks.

Djay Pro also has the bases covered when it comes to effects, with a decent selection available from the get-go, and more advanced effects available as a paid upgrade. A generous amount of loop controls are also on offer including Bounce, which is similar to Serato's Slip Mode.

Manual looping and pad looping assigns loop length and filtering to an X-Y pad control. Three cue points can be assigned per track, and there is also a sampler section available, which has 12 sample slots on offer.

Djay Pro has kept all of the best features of the original djay software and added an awful lot of very cool new features, some of which are groundbreaking enough to potentially ensure that DJs will flock to this software and ignore other titles completely.

However there are some features missing in djay Pro that are standard for Traktor and Serato, such as DVS vinyl support, which means the old skool are more likely to stick with what they have, while the newcomers eat up djay Pro and all it has to offer them.

Overall djay Pro is a great piece of software that manages to pack in a lot of very slick features while keeping the price very low. This software is very easy to use and could be the perfect way for users to take their first steps into the world of DJing, especially given the huge music library on offer from Spotify.

I have a Lightning connection on my iOS device. Will it work with the iDJ Pro?

Since apple switched their iOS devices over from the 30-pin connector to the new lightning connecter, the following adapter (sold separately from Apple) has been popular with iDJ Pro users:

This adapter has made it easy for customers to use the newest lightning-equipped iPads with the 30-pin iDJ Pro. However the iDJ Pro’s rear access door must be left open to accommodate the additional bulk of the adapter.

Future shipments of the iDJ Pro, labeled as ‘Lightning Ready’, will incorporate a hole integrated into the rear access door to allow the door to be closed when using the apple adapter.

Customers with Lightning equipped iPads will still need the Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (sold separately), but because of the newly designed rear access door, will not have to leave it in the open position.

When I launch Algoriddim djay, a popup indicates that an iDJ Pro Firmware update is available. I press 'Update', but the message reappears the next time I launch the app. What should I do?

If you are having difficulty updating with the latest app and firmware for your iDJ Pro, please perform the following:

1. Make sure you have an active internet connection for your iPad.
2. Using the App Store app, ensure that you have the latest version of the Algoriddim djay app installed on your iPad.
3. Reconnect your iPad to the iDJ Pro, and try running the app again:
   1. Remove the iPad from your iDJ Pro.

   3. Power-down your iDJ Pro.
   4. Then dock your iPad, and connect it to the iDJ Pro.
   5. Power on the iDJ Pro.
   6. Launch the Algoriddim app.

Is the iPhone 4/4S compatible with the iDJ Pro?

Yes. The iPhone 4/4S will work withe the iDJ Pro using Algoriddim's djay app. The iDJ Pro was not built for a iPhone so the phone will not seat in the mixer as snug as the iPad.

I can only hear one deck, or my sound is in mono. How come?

To make sure the iPad's audio settings are configured for stereo perform the following:

On the iPad go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Turn the Mono Audio setting OFF. Set the L and R setting to the center.

When I move the crossfader to the left or right, the PFL light comes on, and the audio swaps decks. What is causing this?

By default Auto Select for Pre-Cueing is enabled. This feature automatically cues the deck that is currently not playing live. If the crossfader is cut hard to the right or towards Deck B, then Deck A will automatically start playing in your headphones.

To disable Auto Select for Pre-Cueing follow these simple steps.

1. Connect your iDJ Pro to the iPad, and open djay 2.
2. Tap the Gear icon in the center to open the Settings page.
3. Tap Advanced.
4. Under Pre-Cueing, turn Auto Select OFF.
